World Book Day - Thursday 4th March
by Rachel Stone - Tuesday, 2 March 2010, 12:28 PM

The first Thursday in March is the day that all Librarians look forward to more than their birthday and Christmas because it is 'World Book Day'. This Thursday, we will be offering free hot drinks and croissants to anyone who joins us before school to read their favourite book. Breaktime will be a celebration of reading and chocolate where anyone who takes out a book will receive a piece of 'Fairtrade' chocolate. Lunchtime will be the deadline for our 'Recycled Haikus' competition. So if you have not yet written a haiku about your favourite book, recycling or the Library, then come along and take five minutes to write one. You may even win a prize.

As it is such a special day, we will also be judging the 'I Wish I had written ...' competition so look out for the names of the winners on Rickypedia.

See you Thursday!

'I wish I had written...' Competition
by Rachel Stone - Friday, 22 January 2010, 08:38 AM

Recently I have been astounded by the popularity of 'Twilight' and previously I have been amazed by people queuing up at midnight to buy the new 'Harry Potter' books. I would love to bring that much joy to people through the written word but unfortunately I do not think I am that creative. It did however make me think about a book that I wish I had written and so I have set up a competition to get us all thinking about books we really admire. If you visit the Library area of Rickypedia it tells you what you need to include, then click on the link below and start to write your own blog about it.

If you want to write your own blog just click here

Good Luck!

Closing Date: Monday 22nd February

Guess what I wish I had written...
